Philip Blomberg
As a creative and tech-savvy designer, I have always been drawn to the intersection of art and engineering. My passion for travel has played a significant role in shaping my perspective—specifically my time exploring the stark architectural contrasts between Sweden and Germany. What started as a fascination with how culture influences building styles has evolved into a deeper inquiry into how architecture can respond to environmental and social challenges.
Current Focus:
The Outlands This curiosity led me to the Umeå School of Architecture, where I am currently a Master’s candidate in Studio 12. My research focuses on "Islands as Socio-Ecological Laboratories," investigating how we can move from infrastructural dependencies to systemic repair. I am exploring performative tectonics and bio-materials to create structures that aren't just visually striking, but actively heal their environments.
The Technician & The Artist
My approach is grounded in reality. With a background spanning construction and industrial assembly (IBAB), I understand the physical constraints of how things are built. I combine this hands-on knowledge with advanced digital tools like Grasshopper and CNC fabrication to bring complex concepts to life.
With my camera always by my side—honed through professional work with NicheCom and London Mosaic—I use photography not just to capture landscapes, but to analyze site conditions and visualize new architectural futures.
Looking Forward:
I am an individual who values diversity and the power of design to inspire change. Whether it is through a camera lens or a parametric script, I am dedicated to creating work that challenges the status quo and makes a positive, regenerative impact on the world.
